2008 Getting Gaited hosted at Twin Creeks, Duncan, BC ~ Vancouver

Clincian: Elizabeth Graves

As owners of two young Rocky Mountain horses, Maggie and Sandy first met Liz at her ranch in Minnesota looking for guidance on how to get our horses from pacey and trotty to a consistent Rocky Mountain gait.

They were so impressed with her knowledge and the way she was able to share it, that we also attended a recent clinic given by Liz in California.

They asked Liz if she would come and give her first (and hopefully not her last!) clinic on Vancouver Islanda and were delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to meet her and learn from her vast experience with gaited horses.

If you own a gaited horse or looking to ... Liz Graves is one Clinician not to miss!
Liz's clinics are mostly in the USA but has dvd that are the next best thing.

Clinics are geared for all levels and experience of riders from beginning to very advanced levels. Liz’s goal is to have a positive environment at all clinics, one in which people have a wonderful time, share and enjoy the thrill of learning together.

Liz has devoted most of her life to working not only with horses, which is her first love, but with all animals.  She has a multi-talented, highly energetic, creative personality, striving to share her knowledge and experience with all who desire to learn.

We were all treated to an excpetional 'Getting Gaiting' clinic and the opportunity to work with the leading gaited horse specialist in North America. Liz works through positive re-enforcement for the horse and rider.  Clinics are about a complete and higher level of horsemanship without the need for mechanical gimmicks.

Liz addressed questions relating to:

  • Bio-mechanics – gaited horse structure as it relates to gait
  • Bits and biting
  • Saddle fitting
  • Equine psychology
  • Common sense ground work, gait analysis and gait development
  • What is straightness and how to find it
  • Conditioning, application and benefits of lateral work on the ground and under saddle
  • and - last but not least - how to ride our gaited horses more effectively.
